Nadia Elena Comaneci
In 1976, she became a global celebrity when she scored the first ever perfect 10 on an asymmetrical bar at the Montreal Olympic Games. Then she scored another perfect 10 which made her the youngest Olympic all-around gold medalist at just 14. Nadia Comaneci has not only been the focus of attention everywhere but has also assisted Romania in gaining a place on the map of international recognition. With a score that was unattainable the sport's icon helped bring gymnastics into the spotlight of the world's the spotlight. It also changed people's perception of female gymnasts. This was due to the effect she made in the Olympics, that both the movements toe-on (toes on) as well as the release movement were named in her honor. They've remained until today, as difficult. Apart from the Olympics her performance was impressive. She also showed outstanding results at the World Championships and European Championships and was subsequently an icon as well as one of the best-known gymnasts the world could ever have. In addition, she modeled and promoted sporting gear following her making the move from the US.
